West Hollywood

This song was written about my experience of West Hollywood albeit seen from an outsider’s eye. For me it’s a place of eternal beauty mixed with humour and sadness due to failed dreams right next to the powerful film industry encampments of Beverly Hills and Bel Air. There is a vibe that the area is like a mermaid drawing people in and onto the rocks.

We were lucky enough to stay at the amazingly beautiful and timelessly chic Chateau Marmont. The staff and management have seen it all before and show genuine interest in the customers – who knows the customer might be able to show a film script to someone or decide that the receptionist is so amazingly beautiful that she just has to appear in the next Tom Cruise film?

This is a town based on people wanting to become other people in order to succeed in the most violently competitive business of all time – show business.

If you can’t stay at the Marmont I advise you to have a drink at the Bar Marmont 100 yards down the road – the vibe there is eclectic and sexually charged – but is it heaven or is it the other place? For you to decide. Enjoy but be careful there are creatures here that can eat you alive and not blink.
